About Cheryl

Hi! I'm Cheryl, the lower school librarian. I have been working in educational and non-profit communities for many years. I hold a B.A. in English and a certificate in Early Childhood Education both from UNC-Chapel Hill. I taught in a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool for two years, but then decided to go on a great adventure and accepted an ESOL teaching placement for Peace Corps Micronesia. My experience abroad helped me to realize that librarianship is the place that many of my interests—service, education, and equitable information access—intersect. After receiving a Master's degree in Library Science from North Carolina Central University, I served patrons of all ages at the Asheboro Public Library before returning to my hometown and beginning my journey at CFS!
